We’re in the thick of monsoon season, so daily thunderstorm and flash flood chances are on the table this week alongside the usual heat. Storms roll in fast and localized.

Last Call: July Residencies Closing This Week
A few of the summer’s biggest names wrap up their runs this week – if any were on your list, this is it:
- Backstreet Boys close the Sphere – Their Into the Millennium residency plays its final dates July 30 and 31. This is the last chance to see them wrapped in the Sphere’s 16K screen. If you go, read our Sphere guide first so you know which seats actually matter.
- Kelly Clarkson at Caesars – Her Studio Sessions residency at the Colosseum wraps with dates July 31 and August 1.
- Marc Anthony at Fontainebleau – The salsa legend’s VEGAS…MY WAY! run continues at BleauLive Theater with dates through July 31.
- Elvis Week at Westgate – Wrapping July 31 with 1969 Live Concert: The King Returns, recreating his historic residency on the same stage.

Sports This Week: WNBA Downtown
The Las Vegas Aces have two home games at Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay this week – Tuesday July 28 vs. Portland and Thursday July 30 vs. New York. Catching a WNBA game is a genuinely affordable live-sports option compared to almost anything else in town, and the Aces are a marquee franchise. Good midweek move if you want a real event without a residency price tag.

Beyond the closers, plenty is running:
- Mrs. Doubtfire: The Musical at the Venetian Theatre – multiple showtimes this weekend
- Tape Face at MGM Grand – the silent comedy favorite, always a solid budget-friendly pick
- Carrot Top at Luxor – long-running prop comedy staple
- Jabbawockeez at MGM Grand – the award-winning dance crew, great all-ages show
- Comedy headliners across the Strip – Josh Wolf, Luenell, Rich Little, and Brad Garrett’s club all have dates this week
- Absinthe and the Cirque du Soleil productions continue their regular runs
Free Things to Do Any Day This Week
- Bellagio Fountains – Free, day and night, best after dark. Note they shut down in high winds, which is more likely during monsoon storms.
- Bellagio Conservatory – Free, open 24 hours, air conditioned. The single best free move during both heat and storms.
- Fremont Street Experience – Free light show nightly under the LED canopy downtown, plus free live music on multiple stages. The canopy also keeps you dry if a storm hits.
- Circus Circus free circus acts – Real trapeze and acrobat performances throughout the day at the Carnival Midway. Free and great for kids.
- Casino sightseeing – Every casino floor is free and air conditioned. The Venetian’s canals and Caesars’ Forum Shops are the best free indoor wandering when it’s hot or storming.
Coming Up: Plan Ahead
- Le Cirque farewell at Bellagio – The legendary restaurant is closing after decades, running farewell prix fixe menus through August 23. A splurge, but a piece of Vegas history before it’s gone.
- Michelin Guide Southwest, August 26 – Michelin comes to Vegas for the first time since 2009, with the ceremony at Fontainebleau. Expect the dining scene to shift after – especially watch for the Bib Gourmand (great-food-reasonable-price) list. Full breakdown in our Michelin preview.
- Raiders preseason and UNLV football – Late August brings the return of football season and sportsbook Sundays. The Raiders host a preseason game August 27, and college football fires up soon after.
The Budget Angle This Week
The post-July-4th cheap-hotel window is still open. Late July into August is one of the more affordable stretches of the Vegas year – the heat and storm risk keep casual tourists away, which keeps rates down, especially Sunday through Thursday.
